Joe collaborated with the Carducci String Quartet Frank Turner & Emily Barker for an online event live from the Forum, Tunbridge Wells.

Joe launched ‘Time To Compose’, a new composition course helping student composers have their music work-shopped and performed in COVID restricted times by the Carducci String Quartet. ​

The Presteigne Festival Orchestra under George Vass are to release Joe’s Mnemonic for Flute, Harp and Strings later this year. 

Joe mixed the new EP Letters From Suburbia by Devon based singer-songwriter StevieRay Latham.

Joe has collaborated with the Carducci String Quartet and several artists including Steve Mason, Fenne Lilly, Emily Barker and Charlotte Church for ‘Music Feeds’ – an online festival to help fight food poverty and raise money for Stagehands and Help Musicians. 

Joe has teamed up with Tony Mortimer to record a new version of East 17’s Stay Another day for the 25th anniversary of its release. The version will feature the newly formed Waltham Forest Youth Choir and East London Brass with all proceeds will go to the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

Joe is leading a composition course for Sound Scotland at Aberdeen University in conjunction with the International Percussion Institute.

Joe has worked with students in Northern Ireland to create a new work for the Ulster Orchestra with immersive electronics based on the life stories of 3 former alcoholics who attend the Hope Centre in Ballymena as part of their recovery programme. 

Joe's new album 'Pulse Nocturnes by Drift Chamber is released on Fri 22nd Feb.

Drift Chamber is Joe's writing partnership with composer/producer Lex Shellard, combining ambient classical with electronic soundscapes.

At the request of Philip Glass, Joe is again heading to Carnegie Hall to arrange for The Scorchio Quartet and guest on drums with Bernard, Tom and Phil from New Order at the 32nd Annual Benefit Concert for Tibet House US on Thursday 8th February. Other artists performing include Debbie Harry, Laurie Anderson, John Batiste, Stephen Colbert, Jason Isbell, Angelique Kidjo and Tenzen Choegyal.

Joe's three-movement work for marimba and trumpet 'Catch' features on the new album 'Scene Of The Crime’ by Hakan Hardenberger and Colin Currie.

Sky Arts are to broadcast a documentary about New Order's collaboration with Liam Gillick, Joe and a synth orchestra.  Part documentary and part concert, Decades airs on 22nd Sept, directed by Mike Christie.

Joe's Northern Soul and Motown show is returning to Bridgewater Hall on Friday 3rd November.  Tickets on sale via See Tickets, Gigs & Tours and the Bridgewater Hall.

Joe has announced six new collaborations for his residency at Festival No. 6 in September. The Charlatans, Everything Everything, ShadowParty, Drift Chamber & Fenne Lily will each perform a new reworked set, performed for the first time with the No. 6 Ensemble in the magical setting of Portmeirion Town Hall.

The festival takes place 6/7/8/9 September in Portmeirion, Wales.

Joe led a project with Aldeburgh Young Musicians at Snape Maltings focusing on arranging popular music for orchestra.

The Slow Readers Club have released their live performance with Joe & the N°6 Ensemble at Festival N°6 on limited edition white vinyl and CD. ​

Joe has written and recoded the string arrangements for ShadowParty, a new venture fromTom Chapman & Phil Cunningham from New Order and Josh Hagar & Jeff Freidl from Devo. The album also features contributions from The Verve guitarist Nick McCabe and singer Denise Johnson is due to be released by Mute Records in summer 2018.

Joe's Northern Soul and Motown show with Manchester Camerata Orchestra will be performing at the Neighbourhood Weekender in Warrington on Sunday 7 May. Tickets arealready sold out.

James and Joe have made a special video of Sit Down to help launch the 2018 MusiciansAgainst Homelessness campaign. The video was filmed in Albert Hall Manchester and features Tim and Mark from the band and a string quartet arranged by Joe.

Vienna dates announced for Joe's show with New Order featuring a 12 piece synthesiser ensemble from RNCM, which premiered at Manchester International Festival 12 & 13 May at Weiner Festwochen.

Joe returns to Festival No. 6 in Sept 2018 for his 7th year as Composer-in-Residence. He will be bringing a new Northern Soul & Motown set with Manchester Camerata Orchestra to the main stage as well as creating some special one-off collaborations with artists playing the festival with the N°6 Ensemble.

Joe and The Slow Readers Club have shared an audio recording from their set at Festival N°6. The song 'Cavlacade' is performed with 8-piece classical ensemble in Portmeirion Town Hall, part of Joe's Composer-in-Residence program.
